Fortnite has introduced a groundbreaking update to its battle pass system, marking a significant shift in gameplay – quite literally.
Previously, Fortnite’s various game modes felt like entirely different realms, with Battle Royale serving as the focal point. With collaborations like the Star Wars tie-in, LEGO Fortnite received its own battle pass, while Fortnite Festival had its exclusive all-star pass.
This division meant that each mode had a separate battle pass, with progress confined to each specific one. However, this is set to transform.
Starting December 1, Fortnite will implement a fully integrated battle pass system. Experience earned in any game mode – whether it’s Festival or LEGO Fortnite – will contribute towards all passes you own.
This initiative kicks off with the launch of the new Music Pass on November 2, previously known as the Festival Pass. Following closely, the LEGO Pass will debut just in time for the holiday festivities, featuring the Brick or Treat LEGO Pass.
Players no longer need to grind through Battle Royale repetitively if it’s not their style. Now, XP can be accrued across all modes, allowing you to unlock rewards seamlessly.
It’s important to note that while progress is unified, the battle passes themselves are still separately priced. Epic Games has stated, “You’ll need to purchase the Battle Pass, Music Pass, and/or LEGO Pass individually to access premium rewards in each.”
That said, the developers also aim to make these purchases more convenient with options to “secure all premium passes at once.” This could potentially lead to discounts for players who opt to buy all three passes together.
This update is a win for the entire player community, as it motivates gamers to explore new modes without feeling as if they’re wasting their time. If you’ve yet to dive into LEGO Fortnite, the prospect of earning attractive rewards might just entice you to give it a shot, allowing you to enjoy varied gameplay without hindering progression.
As Fortnite concludes its Halloween-themed Fortnitemares and gears up for its nostalgia-infused “Remix” season, the future shines brightly.
With the second OG season on the horizon and this new battle pass system, every game mode is now a worthy adventure.
