<p>Fortnite has recently launched enhanced parental control features, including the ability for parents to impose time limits on their child’s gaming account.
The ongoing issue of parents expressing frustration over their children’s gaming habits, particularly with Fortnite, has been a prevalent topic since 2017. The game’s broad appeal and numerous collaborations make it easy for players to become engrossed in the Battle Royale experience. However, thanks to the newly introduced time limit functionality, parents can now manage their children’s playtime more effectively.
In a blog post published on October 1, 2024, Epic Games announced the new parental control settings in Fortnite and Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN). These controls empower parents to set daily playtime restrictions.
In addition to establishing a time limit, parents can also define specific gaming windows throughout the day for their children.
With these settings, parents can rest easy, knowing their children won’t overindulge in Fortnite.
Once a time limit is activated on the account, players will receive a notification when they have just 30 minutes remaining. Once the limit is reached, access to Fortnite and UEFN will be restricted until the next day or the next designated playing window.
There is some flexibility, however. Players can request additional playtime by selecting the “Ask for More Time”option, provided this feature is enabled. If parents grant permission, gaming can continue.
To adjust these features, parents should visit Epic’s Account Portal, log in with their child’s account, and navigate to the Parental Controls section. From this area, they can also monitor their child’s gameplay through the Time Reports feature.
Once the settings are configured, they will apply across all devices utilized for Fortnite and UEFN. It’s important to note that the time limit feature pauses if the game enters Sleep Mode or if UEFN is idle.
