Recent leaks surrounding Fortnite indicate that the beloved Pump Action shotgun and the popular Double Pump strategy are set to make a comeback in the highly anticipated OG season. This revival is part of Fortnite’s December 6 update, which brings back the iconic Chapter 1 map for permanent play.
Players can look forward to revisiting classic Points of Interest (POIs), embracing familiar weapons, and rediscovering treasured loot, including the much-cherished Pump Action shotgun. Renowned Fortnite leaker Hypex has confirmed that both the original Pump model and the much-debated Double Pump mechanic will feature in the upcoming update.
Additionally, popular Fortnite streamer DrLupo has backed this claim by sharing a message from Fortnite’s official account that reads: “Hey chat… double pump returning Dec. 6 with OG Chapter 1 Season 1, by the way.” This statement has stirred excitement within the community as anticipation builds toward the update.

Understanding the Fortnite Double Pump Strategy
The Double Pump meta represents a unique chapter in Fortnite’s gameplay where players would equip two Pump Shotguns. This allowed for rapid-fire shotgun blasts by quickly swapping between the two weapons, delivering lethal shots in quick succession. Unfortunately, this mechanic was nerfed after Epic Games aimed to balance the game during Chapter 4 Season OG in 2023.
Prior to the nerf, a weapon swap delay was introduced, requiring players to wait briefly after switching before being able to fire again. Although this disappointed many, it also provided a necessary balance against what was considered one of the most overpowered strategies in Fortnite’s history.
With the return of the Pump Shotgun devoid of weapon swap delays anticipated for the upcoming OG season, it is expected to regain its status as one of the top weapons in the game. Evidence from Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix demonstrates the Pump Shotgun’s dominance, where it deals an impressive 92 damage with each shot. As for alternatives, players may find the Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle and Assault Rifle to be worthy contenders as secondary weapons.
