Following the conclusion of the highly anticipated Godzilla x Kong event in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 on January 31, both iconic titans were removed from the Battle Royale. In a recent update, the developers made a subtle but intriguing shift in the loot pool, implementing changes without prior announcements or detailed patch notes.
This update notably reintroduced the Explosive Repeater Rifle and Shield Keg while vaulting the Burst Quad Launcher, stirring excitement among players. However, one significant addition might have flown under the radar: the return of the classic character Goldie. Originally introduced in Chapter 2 Season 2, Goldie is now an NPC located at the Burd point of interest (POI) on the island’s west side, where he can be found wandering within the petrol station’s restaurant.
The Significance of Goldie’s Return

Goldie’s unexpected return serves as an early indicator of what players might anticipate in Chapter 6 Season 2. Speculation abounds that the upcoming season may explore a “Heist”theme, aligning with recent leaks circulating within the community. While it is not expected that Chapter 6 will replicate the Spy and Agents theme from Chapter 2 Season 2, which debuted on February 20, 2020, the presence of Goldie hints at a thematic connection.
Players have often drawn parallels between this season and Chapter 4 Season 4, which was firmly rooted in a Heist concept. Given that both seasons have been referenced in recent leaks, it is reasonable to conclude that Chapter 6 Season 2 may fuse elements from both themes, offering a fresh but familiar experience.
Epic Games has a history of reintroducing beloved NPC characters as narrative Easter eggs, teasing future content. It would not be surprising if more iconic figures, potentially including Midas from earlier narratives, make a comeback as the season progresses.
For the time being, Goldie’s presence serves primarily as a nostalgic nod to longtime players, as Epic Games has not yet confirmed any specific ties to the forthcoming season’s theme. In the meantime, players can engage with Goldie through a brand-new set of Sniper Rifle Expertise Quests. Completing all five stages of these quests grants access to a Legendary Hunting Rifle, adding to the excitement of the current gameplay.
As we await further official announcements, it’s clear that Fortnite remains committed to keeping its player base engaged with both nostalgic elements and evolving storylines.
