Following the incredible resurgence of Fortnite OG in November 2023, the developers have announced its return in 2024. The Remix mode transported players back to Chapter 2, but the much-anticipated OG mode will make its grand comeback in Chapter 6, Season 1, and this time, it will be a permanent feature.
Chapter 6 is set to launch on December 1, 2024. This season introduces an entirely new map and a Battle Pass inspired by Japanese folklore. However, it’s important to note that the OG mode will exist separately and will include its own unique Battle Pass.
Below, we’ve compiled all the essential details about the return of Fortnite OG, including its release date, map specifics, and the reintroduction of a classic gameplay meta.
Release Date for Fortnite OG
The highly awaited Fortnite OG will officially return on Friday, December 6, 2024. This premiere comes just a few days after the beginning of Chapter 6, allowing players to immerse themselves in the new environment before stepping back into the nostalgia of the original game map.

The Map for Fortnite OG
When Fortnite OG launches, players will be greeted by the iconic battle royale map from Chapter 1, Season 1. Unlike its November 2023 revival that featured the Chapter 1 Season 5 map—complete with Tilted Towers and Junk Junction—this iteration will showcase the most simplified version of the original map.
Characterized by a predominantly grassy landscape, this version includes features such as a basic dirt racetrack to the east and Moisty Mire standing in for Paradise Palms. Dusty Divot will revert to Dusty Depot, presenting merely a few warehouses amid a vast expanse. Though this layout may initially feel sparse compared to later map updates, it promises a nostalgic experience for veteran players.
Epic Games has hinted that players will be able to “relive OG seasons,” suggesting that the map will evolve similarly to how it did from 2017 to 2019.
Battle Pass for Fortnite OG
With the Chapter 6 Season 1 update, each mode in Fortnite will feature its own Battle Pass, including the standard Battle Pass, Music Pass, Lego Pass, and the newly introduced Fortnite OG Pass. Details on this pass will be revealed closer to its launch. However, it’s been confirmed that Fortnite Crew subscribers will receive access to all available Battle Passes.
Revival of the Double Pump
One of the most notorious gameplay strategies, the Double Pump, will make a comeback in Fortnite OG. This technique allowed players to rapidly fire two pump-action shotguns by quickly switching between them, effectively bypassing the slow pump animation and creating a formidable advantage in combat.

While the Double Pump mechanic was eventually modified with a cooldown feature preventing immediate consecutive shots from shotguns, its presence in Chapter 6 Season 1 will undoubtedly evoke sentimentality among long-time players. The upcoming season will also kickoff with the Remix: The Finale live event, so be sure to stay tuned for how to participate.
