Fortnite Player Shocked After Receiving 21k V-Bucks Following 2-Year Break

A Fortnite gamer was in for the shock of their life when they were given 21,000 V-Bucks upon their return to the game after a hiatus of 2 years.

For Fortnite players, receiving complimentary cosmetics is a common occurrence, whether through a Battle Pass or a quest-related event. However, free V-Bucks from Epic are a rarity and are usually only given in the event of a refund or an active Crew subscription.

Upon returning to the game after a two-year break, one player was surprised to find that their V-Bucks balance had increased to over 21,000. This was a significant increase from the amount they had left in their account when they stopped playing in 2022.

Eru_Uibo, a member of the FortniteBR subreddit, shared an image of their V-Bucks balance, stating that they had stopped playing the game when their balance was around 700 or 800 V-Bucks.

Haven’t played Fortnite in a couple years. Why do I have 21k vbucks now? byu/eru_uibo inFortNiteBR

The user was shocked when Epic greeted them with an unexpected amount of 20,000 V-Bucks. Although they were uncertain about the reason behind it, other Fortnite players shared their own theories.

One player recalled receiving a small refund a few years ago when prices changed, and they were given some V bucks as compensation. This could be the reason why the details are a bit fuzzy in their memory.

Another individual stated that there was no price adjustment that would allow someone to reach such a high amount. They mentioned a lawsuit from a few years ago regarding the lack of consent for selling to minors, which resulted in people receiving claims of up to $80, equivalent to 13,500 V-Bucks.

“This wouldn’t justify the 7,715 V-Bucks discrepancy, unless that was the balance in their account when they ceased playing. The highest amount I’ve known of being refunded was 7,715 V-Bucks, and I also took advantage of this offer,”they elaborated.

Some people simply presumed that the funds were from the user’s active Fortnite Crew subscription which he possibly forgot to terminate, resulting in him receiving approximately 20 months’ worth of V-Bucks back into his account.

Despite this, it is always unexpected for Fortnite players to receive complimentary in-game currency from Epic, which serves as a strong incentive for them to keep playing the game. Conversely, those who take advantage of the system and face the repercussions in Fortnite are left with a depleted V-Bucks balance, making it challenging to bounce back from.
