During a recent Fortnite match in the Absolute Doom season, players discovered an effective counter to the notoriously powerful Armor of Doom item.
As Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 kicked off, players were excited to see the return of beloved superhero mythics, including War Machine’s Arsenal, Captain America’s Shield, and Doctor Doom’s Arcane Gauntlets. Nevertheless, as the season progressed, Epic Games made significant nerfs to the loot pool.
Players quickly adapted by finding ways to counter these formidable mythics, which encouraged a more diverse selection of loot to enhance their chances of winning. Yet, one legendary item remained particularly difficult to counter: the Armor of Doom.
Fortunately, a player named PronTron discovered a ruthless strategy against the Armor of Doom and shared their experience on the FortniteBR subreddit. They posted a clip of their attempt to seize the Isle of Doom while trapped in a 5-tick storm, transforming into Doom’s Chosen.

During the attempted escape, they soon realized they were taking 25 tick damage rather than five. Tragically, as PronTron glided towards safety, they were ultimately defeated by storm damage. In sharing the clip, they lamented, “Dying during the Doom transformation feels bad.”
The Armor of Doom boasts a mere 5% spawn rate in the Isle of Doom landmark, granting players the powers of Doctor Doom, including 1,000 health and an invincibility factor, which can lead to a satisfying “Victory Von Doom” if successfully utilized.
The clip garnered a lot of attention, with players questioning the tick damage mechanics for those equipped with the Armor of Doom versus regular players. One user criticized PronTron, stating, “F***ing around in the storm this late in the game is dumb though. OP got himself killed.”
Many players also expressed frustration over the excessively long animation when claiming the Armor of Doom, citing it as a significant factor that led to PronTron’s elimination.
Following a recent weekend buff to the Isle of Doom, spawn rates have normalized. However, Epic hinted that similar buff structures might return in the weeks to come.
