Fortnite Players Believe Epic Has a Preference for Poor UI Design

The recent update 30.30 for Fortnite, which introduced changes to the user interface, has caused a commotion among players. Many are voicing their frustration and accusing Epic Games of having a preference for poorly designed UI.

The UI changes introduced in Chapter 5 Season 3 were met with strong disapproval from the Fortnite community. Specifically, players expressed dissatisfaction with the redesigned Locker, which now organizes outfits, wraps, emotes, and lobby music into separate tabs, causing difficulties in managing and creating loadouts.

In addition, the continual presence of yellow notification dots, which cannot be removed automatically, has become an ongoing source of irritation.

The introduction of Update 30.30 on July 23 included the addition of the Tesla Cybertruck and Fall Guys to Fortnite. However, a team of Fortnite players did not delay in earning XP to acquire Elon Musk’s vehicle. During their XP grind, they noticed a change in the UI, specifically the color of the Mantle button, which had been changed to white.

Despite the criticism, players were still puzzled by the purpose behind these seemingly random changes. A Reddit thread dedicated solely to analyzing the white UI button has been filled with harsh and unfiltered reactions from players.

A dissatisfied user expressed their frustration, stating, “I fail to comprehend the reasoning behind these minor alterations. The previous version was perfectly fine and had a universally appreciated UI.”

One person joked, “I bet the first task they assign to interns is to make some pointless change to the UI,”emphasizing the belief that these updates are unnecessary.

Despite the criticism, certain players theorized that the UI team is merely implementing modifications to validate their role. They also referenced a larger trend in the industry towards simplistic, flat designs that can often confuse longtime fans of the original Fortnite UI.

Despite the issues with the UI, Chapter 5 of Fortnite introduced significant gameplay changes, such as the addition of a new Weapon modification system. This update also placed a greater emphasis on vehicle gameplay, although not all players, including popular streamer Ninja, were pleased with this change.
