Fortnite’s battle royale mode is currently heavily influenced by cars, leading players to plead for solutions to counter the prevalence of vehicle users.
In Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3, players will experience a Mad Max-inspired theme where the once peaceful island has been transformed into a post-apocalyptic wasteland, filled with dangerous bandits and their heavily modified vehicles.
Shortly after the season’s release, gamers quickly realized that the dominant strategy would involve utilizing cars, thanks to the powerful customizable attachments that can easily take down opponents. The game’s subreddit was inundated with multiple posts, as players triumphantly sent their enemies packing with a barrage of machine gun fire.
The issue of players being unable to effectively combat those in vehicles has been raised in a series of posts, with many petitioning for the return of key items such as the Shield Break EMP and Goo Gun. These posts have acknowledged the problem that arises when players are unable to find a vehicle to use against their opponents.
While the EMP may appear to be an effective counter, a player made the argument that it would have “spoiled the enjoyment and the unique aspect”of the game. This is a valid point, especially since this season heavily features chaotic driving. Some also shared the sentiment that the EMP was overly powerful and would make vehicles obsolete.
Fans have been eagerly requesting the return of the Anvil Rocket Launcher. After being removed for a considerable period of time, the weapon was finally brought back in Chapter 5 Season 1. However, it was once again taken out of the game with the release of Season 2.
Despite the current strength of cars, many Fortnite players remain perplexed as to why neither of these items are currently available. One player stated, “For some unknown reason, they introduce EMP grenades and Anvil Launchers in seasons where they are not necessary.”
Even though Chapter 5 Season 3 is recent, there is a possibility that Epic Games will release these features in response to the addition of cars. In such a scenario, the developers may have a difficult task of balancing the vehicles and incorporating appropriate anti-vehicle measures.
