Despite the approaching end of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, players are still feeling let down by the underwhelming story quests.
Despite its efforts to infuse Greek mythology into Season 2, Fortnite faced criticism from players for its main storyline quest, which was deemed lacking in a compelling narrative. This was despite the addition of skins, mythic items, and locations.
By utilizing the scrying pools scattered throughout the map, players immerse themselves in the storyline and undertake a variety of quests. The Oracle assigns a range of tasks to players, including retrieving items, defeating deities, and engaging in lengthy dialogues.
Despite the dissatisfaction expressed by players with the minimalistic nature of the storyline in comparison to previous seasons, one user went as far as calling Fortnite Chapter 3 the pinnacle of narrative quest design, citing Seasons 1 and 2 as the prime examples. This highlights the lack of depth in the current seasonal narrative.
Another person expressed their disappointment with the story from both the previous and current season, stating that while they appreciated the increased dialogue and added voice, they found the overall storytelling to be lacking and the presentation to be dull.
Despite the lackluster storyline, The Oracle’s impressive voice acting stood out as a bright spot.
One user on Reddit commented that despite the numerous Olympus quests in the story, the only thing they took away was how impressive the voice actress for The Oracle was.
In late April, a leaked content calendar for Fortnite unveiled upcoming collaborations and a teaser image for the next Fortnite season. The image suggests that the season will have a post-apocalyptic theme.
However, players are speculating that the narrative for the upcoming season might not materialize due to the events of this season.
