Captain America’s shield has become a crucial element in a new Fortnite bunker strategy that players are deeming excessively strong.
The Absolute Doom season in Fortnite Chapter 5 introduced various Marvel-inspired items to the loot pool, such as Captain America’s main weapon.
Moreover, besides its defensive capabilities, the shield can also be used as a weapon to deliver powerful strikes against adversaries. Due to its lock-on feature and attacks that are nearly impossible to defend against, the Fortnite community is already demanding a nerf for this weapon.
Further supporting their argument is the recent revelation of a tactic known as the “bunker strategy,”which poses a challenge for players trapped on the opposing side of the shield.
The strategy, which was shared by Instagram user Penitentefn_, involves a shield bearer camping near a bunker. When a team enters the bunker to collect loot and upgrade their gear, the shield user stands outside the entrance and throws Cap’s weapon inside, catching the unsuspecting team off guard.
The shield will continue to rebound off the bunker’s walls, targeting nearby enemies until they are all eliminated or manage to evade the assault.
The responses to the Instagram post reveal that numerous players are unhappy with the fact that such a strategy is feasible. One comment reads, “This is the reason why this game is terrible.”
Another individual expressed, “This is extremely messed up.”
TikToker wrizzyfps shared a video on their account, showcasing the new shield-focused bunker tactic in Fortnite. The content creator expressed their desire for Epic to weaken the strength of the shield.
Several others also spoke up, asserting that they had effectively used this strategy against their opponents. One person confidently stated, “We completely dominated a team of four using this method. It definitely works.”
Despite the overpowered nature of the shield, the main issue remains that the bunker lacks a secure hiding spot. It is an exposed space with only a few sporadic boxes, making it vulnerable to Captain America’s ricocheting shield.
Despite numerous complaints, Epic has yet to address the issue with the shield. However, the consensus among Fortnite fans is that a nerf is necessary.
