Epic Games has made headlines by revealing the substantial earnings of players who created content in Fortnite Creative during 2024. The payout figures underscore the lucrative nature of user-generated content within the widely popular game.
Thanks to the Unreal Editor, which empowers players to design innovative assets and maps, the creative possibilities within Fortnite have expanded significantly. Noteworthy examples include game modes inspired by Call of Duty and even a digital version of Monopoly, showcasing the versatility and creativity of the community.
The success of Fortnite Creative prompted Epic Games to launch an engagement payout program, aimed at rewarding users for their creative efforts. For some amateur developers, this initiative resulted in impressive financial gains.
Impressive Earnings: Fortnite Creators Reap Financial Rewards

According to reports from HYPEX, Epic Games disbursed a remarkable total of $352 million to creators within the Fortnite Creative ecosystem as part of its engagement payout program. The breakdown of these earnings reveals that seven creators surpassed the $10 million mark, 14 earned more than $3 million, and 37 amassed over $1 million each.
To provide a broader perspective, at the lower end of the spectrum, 154 creators earned approximately $300,000, while 7,000 others made between $1,000 and $10,000. Additionally, an impressive 13,000 players received at least $100 for their contributions.
Epic Games has clarified the methodology behind these payouts, stating that “Your Engagement Payout Award reflects the engagement attributable to your Content as a portion of User engagement across all content in Fortnite.” This emphasizes the importance of user engagement in determining financial rewards.
In terms of popularity, HYPEX noted that Creative Maps accounted for 36.5% of Fortnite’s total playtime in 2024, showcasing a 5% increase from the previous year. Collectively, these creative maps generated an astounding 5.23 billion hours of gameplay in 2024.
Epic Games effectively utilizes revenue from cosmetic items to sustain its payout program. Streamer Ninja shed light on the financial dynamics, sharing that his creator code alone garnered $5 million in a single month. From this, Epic earned around $50 million, highlighting the substantial revenue potential if popular skins are released strategically.
