Recently, MrBeast was involved in a controversy which has caused concern among Fortnite users. They fear that Epic may follow the same path as they did with Travis Scott and remove MrBeast’s Icon Series skin from the game permanently.
Despite previous controversies, such as the Travis Scott skin release following a concert tragedy and the heated debate surrounding the Rue skin, Fortnite has consistently taken necessary measures to avoid further conflicts.
Similarly, MrBeast, another prominent figure with their own Fortnite skin, is also embroiled in the scandal surrounding Ava Kris Tyson and his former employees.
A snapshot of the skin was shared by user Dvid020510 in a deleted Reddit post along with the statement, “I don’t think we’ll see this skin for a while.”
The Reddit thread sharing concerns about the MrBeast skin was later deleted by mods.
Another user expressed a similar sentiment, stating, “It’s unfortunate what happened to Mr. Beast. It all unfolded too quickly.”A third individual chimed in, saying, “It may take some time, but he won’t reach the level of Travis Scott.”
Despite the opinions of those who want the skin removed, some may argue, “I am unconcerned. I prefer to see iconic characters such as Master Chief, The Doom Slayer, and Street Fighter characters.”
Another user remarked that creating cosmetics based on internet celebrities is always a risky decision, while also taking a jab at influencer skins.
Despite the fact that skins being completely removed from multiplayer games is not a new occurrence, there is still a possibility that players who have purchased the skin could have it revoked.
Despite the controversy, Hi-Rez Studios made the decision to remove DrDisrespect’s skin from Rogue Company, leading to the game’s unexpected resurgence in popularity. This single change proved to be a significant turning point for the game.
