In response to a new policy that prohibits side-loading apps on Samsung devices, Epic Games has removed Fortnite from the Samsung app store. This has led Samsung users to request the Ikonik skin from Epic Games for free, as they feel entitled to it.
Epic CEO Tim Sweeney announced that the company has removed Fortnite from the Samsung Galaxy store in response to the manufacturer’s implementation of a new feature called Auto Blocker. This feature automatically rejects the installation of third-party apps on Samsung phones, leading to Epic’s decision to protest by pulling their game from the store.
Sweeney argues that it unfairly prevents users from installing competing stores.
As Epic continues to battle Apple and Google in court to allow for app sideloading and third-party app stores, the recent decision by Samsung adds another obstacle in the way of bringing Fortnite to mobile devices. This has led Samsung users, who have been using free cosmetics since the game’s initial launch on mobile, to believe that they deserve a free rare Ikonik skin.

For those who may not know, Ikonik is a rare cosmetic skin that was originally given for free to users of the Samsung Galaxy S10+ who downloaded Fortnite through the Galaxy Store and claimed the skin. Even after 5 years, this outfit remains one of the most sought-after skins in Fortnite.
Players who were unable to take advantage of the opportunity and are currently playing Fortnite on a Samsung device are requesting that the publisher compensate them with the outfit for free as a form of hazard pay. This is due to the fact that they are unable to download any future game updates from the Galaxy Store.
One player exclaimed, “There’s a new Fortnite skin coming out for free!”Another eagerly stated, “It’s Ikonik time!”A third player shared their disappointment, saying, “I really like the Ikonik skin and emote, but I never had the opportunity to get it because I started playing after it was released.”
Despite the unlikelihood of the rare skin Ikonik making a return, players of Fortnite who use the Galaxy Store are still holding onto hope for a potential free reward in the upcoming weeks. However, it is uncertain whether this will actually occur.
