Fortnite players were surprised when they opened the game and found out that Epic had given them old skins and V-Bucks for free.
Epic Games has a history of surprising players with forgotten-about skins and cosmetic items from previous seasons. Last November, an OG Fortnite player shared that they had unexpectedly received rare Chapter 1 skins many years after starting the game again.
During Chapter 5 Season 3, there were also reports of players who claimed to have received skin and V-Bucks rewards without explanation simply by logging in to Fortnite.
A player inquired: “Has anyone else received this skin without any explanation? I believed it had been removed a while ago.” They shared a screenshot showing that they had obtained the Underworld Desdemona skin, which was originally a prize from the no longer available Coldest Circles Quests that were introduced during Chapter 4 Season 2.
did anyone else just get this skin for no reason? i thought it was gone a long time ago😭😭 byu/VastPlant67 inFortNiteBR
“The player replied, stating that the limited time to purchase the item was a hindrance. They also mentioned that the challenges remained until completion. However, the OP quickly dismissed this, saying, “Yeah, but I wasn’t even playing the game when the skin was released, which is why I’m confused.”
Another person stated that they also received this skin for free some time ago. They were unsure of the reason, but believed it may have been because they returned to the game after a long hiatus. However, they personally do not like the skin and have no intention of purchasing it.
At the same time, a different player has reported receiving 200 V-Bucks from Epic on the same day. According to their reward message, they were gifted the V-Bucks as a result of their hard work. This has left them just as confused as the other player.
Can anyone tell me why i got 200 vbucks when i logged in today byu/szteguu inFortNiteBR
Despite the multitude of jokes from the community about the V-Bucks being a result of their “hard work,”numerous players put forth various explanations for how they had obtained them.
Many Fortnite players proposed the same explanation: “Either a Lobby Track was converted into a free jam track, you purchased an item that Epic later discounted and received a refund, or you simply happened to receive it randomly.”
Another proposed: “Perhaps owning Rap Boy would have made a difference? However, I own Rap Boy and received nothing, so I am uncertain.”Epic recently disclosed that the Eminem skin had been removed from several Lockers a few days earlier due to a bug.
Some also noted the significance of the Silver Shield logo, indicating that it was connected to previous Battle Pass rewards that had not been claimed. “I see the Battle Pass symbol on the left side, did you forget to claim two sets of V-Bucks last season and this is your first login for this season?”they asked.
Regarding the explanations, one player echoed the sentiments of many, expressing their desire for improved communication from Epic Games. Specifically, they suggested that more than just a simple acknowledgment of their efforts would be appreciated.
Despite the speculations, Epic has not yet provided a full confirmation on the reasons behind both players receiving the rewards at the present time.
