Fortnite has recently introduced a new free skin in Chapter 5 Season 4; however, players are not pleased with the way it can be acquired.
Fortnite offers a vast selection of skins and cosmetics, including those from collaborations and original designs created for the game.
In Chapter 5, Season 4, players can now obtain the new Katalina skin for free. For those unfamiliar, the current method to acquire this skin is by completing Fortnite missions on iOS and Android devices.
Moreover, currently the iOS platform is limited to the EU region. As a result of the various conditions for obtaining the complimentary skin and other perks, players have come together in a Reddit thread to express their grievances.
The Katalina skin can be unlocked by completing Fortnite mobile quests.
“One user expressed frustration, stating that they were unable to obtain the free skin due to living in the UK, which is not part of the European Union. Another user went on to claim that this felt like a direct insult from Epic to those who happen to own an iOS device outside of the EU.”
“Another user expressed their disappointment, stating that they had been eagerly anticipating the release of the Katalina skin since its leak. However, due to their iPhone being from the NA region, they were unable to obtain it for free.”
One person spoke up, stating, “As a player from the Middle East, I strongly believe that this is incredibly unjust.”
Despite numerous players expressing disappointment and frustration in the comments, the issue at hand is twofold. Not only does Fortnite fail to run smoothly on their mobile devices, but playing on cloud services also does not contribute towards completing these quests.
A user expressed their disappointment with Fortnite on Android, stating that despite having a flagship tablet, they can barely get 30 frames per second. They found STW, Fortnite Festival, and Rocket Racing to be unplayable, while BR and ZB put them at a disadvantage. They believe that it is simply a poorly done mobile port.
Despite this, there is a way to obtain this free skin regardless of your device. Numerous players recommend utilizing this method before it is fixed for individuals who have difficulty obtaining it.
