Fortnite Postpones Fortnitemares 2024 Event and Reschedules Downtime

Excitement builds around Fortnite’s annual Fortnitemares event for 2024, but fans will need to wait an extra day as its launch has been pushed back.

On October 11, Epic Games shared an update via their official maintenance account on Twitter/X, announcing a slight delay in the much-anticipated Fortnite 31.40 Halloween update. It was originally scheduled to commence on October 10 at 4 AM ET, filled with exciting new seasonal features.

Shortly thereafter, the announcement clarified that the downtime for Fortnitemares would actually kick in nearly 22 hours later than intended, now scheduled for “Saturday at 2 AM ET.”

“We sincerely apologize for the confusion and delay, and we will keep you informed when the update is live,” they added.

This isn’t the first instance of Epic delaying updates, but this particular postponement is among the lengthier ones, typically lasting only a few hours.

The Fortnite community has expressed frustration regarding the hold-up. “You’ve got to be kidding me,” reacted one user, and many shared a similar sentiment.

Numerous players who stayed up late or awaited the update eagerly voiced their disappointment. “The real Fortnitemares is the mere three hours of sleep I got for this update,” remarked one gamer.

“Now the days I planned to take off work to enjoy the Fortnitemares content are ruined,” another lamented.

Some players suggested that due to the significant delay, Epic should offer some type of compensation. “This is a huge delay; you definitely need to provide something in return,” one noted, with others advocating for “V-Bucks compensation,” a form of reimbursement Epic has provided in similar situations before.

Meanwhile, some players indicated they might occupy their time with other games, including the newly launched Sparking Zero and the Haunting event in Modern Warfare 3.

“I guess I’ll just dive into Call of Duty’s Halloween event since they release their content on time without issues. A billion-dollar company like Fortnite should be able to manage this,” one user observed.

The forthcoming Fortnite 31.40 update for Fortnitemares 2024 promises to transform the Battle Royale island with an array of Halloween-themed content, including collaborations, skins, quests, map alterations, and more. Additionally, LEGO Fortnite will also receive festive updates, as detailed in the complete patch notes.
