Reload has become one of the most beloved game modes in Fortnite, making the recent cancellation of its tournament by Epic Games disappointing for fans.
Similar to Warzone’s Resurgence mode, Reload offers a more compact experience in Fortnite with 40 player lobbies instead of the usual 100. As long as one teammate survives, players can respawn without using a Reboot Van.
The Fortnite community embraced this mode, reaching over 300,000 concurrent players in June, while the classic Battle Royale mode experienced a drop to an all-time low of 188,000 players.
In response to Reload’s popularity, Epic Games announced Cash Cups for Chapter 5 Season 4, generating excitement among competitive players. However, the tournaments were canceled due to missing player score issues.
This cancellation followed another tournament that was called off earlier in the season, leading to further frustration among players.
“Why is this game so bugged? This is the second tournament canceled this season, and it’s been less than a month,” one player commented.
Previous seasons had also seen postponements, contributing to a growing negative sentiment within the community.
“First, late game cups in Chapter 3 and 4 got canceled repeatedly due to issues, and now the same is happening to Reload. Tournaments simply don’t work in these types of game modes,” a second user voiced.
Despite Reload’s popularity, there is a sense of fatigue among some players who are eager for a return to standard Battle Royale matches.
“They should remove them permanently and give us trio cups,” another player suggested.
Epic Games has promised to update fans regarding rescheduled tournament dates once the issues are resolved. Fortunately for Fortnite enthusiasts, a significant buff has recently increased the Isle of Doom’s spawn rate to new heights.
