Fortnite’s upcoming test cup in Reload mode will introduce a new format for competitive gameplay. Here are all the important details you should be aware of.
In July 2024, Fortnite released the Reload mode, which saw the return of the OG map. This mode reached a higher concurrency peak than the standard Battle Royale mode, causing division among the community, including our editorial team who believed that the full OG map should have been brought back instead.
Despite this, the Reload mode currently caters to Duo and Squads, providing them with fast-paced gameplay and a lobby of 40 players. It is available in both Ranked and Unranked lobbies, but players have been eagerly anticipating competitive tournaments for this game mode.
Thankfully, Fortnite has recently revealed a trial Reload Cup that will introduce a fresh competitive structure. All pertinent information, such as the date, time, and instructions on how to join, can be found below.
Fortnite Reload Cup Date and Time
The Fortnite Reload Cup is scheduled to take place on August 1, 2024 in two specific regions − Europe at 4:30 pm CEST and North America at 5:30 pm EST. The test tournament will have a duration of 2 hours from the designated start time, during which players can participate in a maximum of 7 games.

Reload test cup: format and eligibility
Players who have achieved Bronze I in Ranked Reload mode will have the opportunity to compete in the Fortnite tournament. The competition will consist of Squads matches in both Battle Royale and Zero Build, with the option for Solo, Duo, or Trio players to join Fill lobbies.
Fortnite is implementing a point cap on eliminations in their scoring system. This is what the new format for points will look like:
- 15 points for a win
- 1 point and 4 Elims
- 2 total points and 8 Elims
- 3 total points at 12 (max of 12 Elims for points)
This implies that once you have accumulated 12 or more points from eliminations, you will not receive any additional points for eliminating an enemy. Therefore, the only way to earn points thereafter is by securing a victory in Reload.
Are there any rewards in Reload Cup?
Unfortunately, there are no prizes for the winners of the Fortnite Reload Cup as it is simply a test cup.
In addition, there are other cash cups that offer generous rewards to winners, but they do require you to play on the Chapter 5 Season 3 Battle Royale island.
