Fortnite Reload Guide: Everything You Need to Know About the Original Mode

First revealed on June 21, Fortnite Reload is an exciting new game mode that brings back notable OG POIs, allowing veteran players to enjoy nostalgia while giving newcomers a glimpse into the game’s past.

This mode is much faster-paced compared to its Battle Royale counterpart, featuring a smaller map and different mechanics. This can lead to confusion for those who are not yet familiar with the mode’s dynamics.

Fortnite OG Reload Release Date

Fortnite Reload was launched in Fortnite after the first Metallica concert live event, which took place on June 22, 2024, at 2 PM ET, running for approximately 20-30 minutes.

This mode is now accessible to all players. However, Epic has yet to confirm the duration for which the Fortnite Reload mode will be available.

What is Fortnite OG Reload?

Fortnite Reload is a brand-new Battle Royale mode by Epic Games that allows players to relive nostalgic experiences on a new map featuring classic OG locations and weapons.

In this mode, 40 players are divided into 10 different squads, competing in either a Zero Build or standard Battle Royale match to achieve a Victory Royale.

Epic has introduced a unique twist by allowing you and your teammates to respawn constantly during matches, provided that at least one member of your team remains alive on the island.

To fully eliminate a team in Fortnite Reload, all members must be defeated before any can respawn.

Fortnite Reload launched with Chapter 5 Season 3 on June 22.

Here’s exactly how Reboot functions in Fortnite Reload:

  • Upon elimination, a player’s Reboot timer will commence, and they will respawn once it finishes.
  • The Reboot timer starts at 30 seconds at the match’s beginning and can increase to 40 seconds as the game progresses.
  • Your team can reduce Reboot timers: by 2 seconds for downing an enemy, 4 seconds for full elimination, and 10 seconds for eliminating an entire team.
  • If one of you or your teammates is downed after the Reboot timer has completed, they can revive themselves immediately.
  • At the end of the match, all Reboot options will become unavailable, leading to complete eliminations like in regular matches.

Rebooted players respawn with a common Assault Rifle and 100 Wood (if Building is available). Alternatively, eliminated players drop Small Shield Potions, medium ammo, light ammo, shotgun shells, and for Build only, 50 of each building material.

How Storm Works in Fortnite OG Reload

As of August 27, 2024, storm mechanics in Fortnite OG Reload have been modified. The last two Storm Circles will initiate earlier and shrink more slowly over a longer distance, providing less time for looting and necessitating quicker rotations to avoid storm damage.

Additionally, Storm Sickness now activates much faster, which has received mixed reactions from players. An update from the team indicates they will “continue to monitor Storm in Reload to ensure it remains enjoyable and action-packed,”suggesting potential adjustments in the future.
