Fortnite Season 4 brings back memories of classic Hasbro Marvel toys for dedicated fans

A commercial for Marvel toys by Hasbro in 2014 sparked emotions among Fortnite players, as the ad’s scenes and features bore a striking resemblance to those in Chapter 5 Season 4.

This latest season of Fortnite, featuring Marvel characters, enables players to combine different superhero components to design their perfect Marvel-inspired avatar.

Having Marvel skins allows you to outfit your avatar with the legendary loot of your beloved heroes. While playing a battle royale game, you may encounter Deadpool wielding Doctor Doom’s gauntlets or Peelverine swapping his claws for the War Machine Arsenal gloves.

Despite Marvel being the main focus, a keen player discovered an old Hasbro advertisement that bears a striking resemblance to the current Fortnite season and shared it on Reddit.

The advertisement, released in 2014, showcased Super Hero Mashers, a popular toy series that gave children the ability to combine and interchange Marvel superheroes.

The advertisement showcased the characters of Spider-Man, Captain America, Doctor Doom, Iron Man, and Wolverine – the very same ones who take center stage in Fortnite.

In the advertisement, Spider-Man can be seen throwing Captain America’s shield at Doctor Doom, who is not exactly a villain in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4. This is a move that players of Fortnite can currently replicate. However, due to recent nerfs, the Captain America shield is not as effective as it used to be.

The Redditors thoroughly enjoyed this discovery. A user humorously remarked, “Playing Fortnite is essentially like purchasing action figures and playing with them.”

The majority of comments express a common feeling of nostalgia, with many concurring that the toys were “goated.”

One player graciously expressed gratitude to the post’s owner for reminding them about their Marvel Mashers ownership. They shared, “Thanks to your reminder, I now have the motivation to play with them in the morning.”

It is unclear if Epic Games drew inspiration from Hasbro’s toy catalog. However, despite Chapter 5 Season 4’s combination of Marvel and nostalgia, it is not achieving the desired impact.

During the current season, fans of Fortnite expressed their dissatisfaction with the limited selection of new Marvel-inspired skins. Additionally, they heavily criticized a particular medallion, deeming it as “ineffective.”
