The viability of a certain weapon in Fortnite has caused division within the community, with some questioning its usefulness in the current season.
The essence of Fortnite lies in the constant rotation of weapons and items throughout each chapter and season. The knowledge that a particular weapon won’t be available forever can motivate players to fully appreciate and utilize it while it lasts.
Despite this, the community is divided on the effectiveness of the Hammer Pump Shotgun compared to other weapons in the current season.
Despite the title of the Reddit thread, “Why is this thing still in the game?”, some players argue that the featured item is completely useless and serves no purpose other than to cause frustration.
After watching this clip, a user made the comment, “I also wonder about that, being completely outmatched by a double pump shotgun that is already included in the game.”
Another person added, “Having confidence is crucial for headshots. Unfortunately, I’ve made the mistake of losing my confidence while using this thing, which has led to losing many fights.”
The modded Hammer Pump Shotgun is perfect for close-range combat.
A different user pleaded with Epic to increase the damage of this weapon, expressing their strong desire for it to be effective as they stated, “we haven’t experienced a strong pump meta since the original days.”
Nevertheless, despite criticism from certain players, a number of comments argued that the shotgun remains a formidable weapon when utilized effectively.
“According to one user, this shotgun is undeniably top tier and I can no longer deny it. It’s easily my go-to choice in the game, and it always catches people off guard with its 120+ damage body shot to the chest or face.”
In contrast, someone else stated that the game “perfectly fits”their playstyle of rapidly peeking, inflicting significant damage, and utilizing the SMG to eliminate the opponent.
At the same time, some individuals noted that although this strategy may not work well in Zero Build, it can still provide an advantage in Build mode by quickly taking a shot after editing a window and then either using an SMG to finish them off or returning to editing.
As Fortnite is known for rolling out hotfixes, it is possible that the weapons in the game may undergo tweaks and balance adjustments.
