Fortnite’s Overpowered SMG Replacing Assault Rifles

Assault Rifles are the preferred choice for most Fortnite players due to their high damage output and effectiveness at long range. However, there is one SMG that is challenging the dominance of Assault Rifles.

In Fortnite, players typically rely on Assault Rifles as a crucial element in their loadout during matches due to their effectiveness at medium to long range.

Despite being in the current meta, players are dissatisfied with the Enforcer AR due to its excessive recoil. Additionally, the Tactical AR is criticized for having a higher damage fall-off compared to other weapons in the same category.

The current circumstances have led players to switch to the Thunder Burst SMG as their weapon of choice due to its superior performance compared to the other Assault Rifles in the game.

GorshGuy posted a joke on Reddit, poking fun at the Thunder Burst SMG’s performance and comparing it to Assault Rifles. In response, a player explained the joke by saying, “For those who constantly say or think ‘it’s not an AR, it’s a trap,’ the joke is that the SMG is surprisingly effective at mid-to-long range, making it feel like an AR.”

Despite not having any modifications, the Thunder Burst SMG in Fortnite still possesses a high level of accuracy compared to other weapons in the game, although its DPS output and TTK may be lower. Additionally, it boasts a 1.75x headshot damage multiplier.

The Thunder Burst SMG’s Legendary version boasts a damage of 29 per shot and a fire rate of 6.63 rounds per second. Even though it may be considered slower compared to other SMGs in Fortnite, its DPS rating of 192.27 remains impressive.

The Legendary version of the Enforcer AR has a DPS rating of 172, which is slightly lower than the Thunder Burst SMG. However, the Thunder Burst SMG offers improved accuracy and can even be further enhanced with the addition of a Laser sight mod, increasing the weapon’s hipfire accuracy.

With future updates in the works, we may see changes to the current weapon meta in the near future. This is similar to how the developers introduced the Boogie Bomb in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 as a counter to the vehicles.
