Released by the BBC on May 19, the documentary “Burning Sun – Exposing the Secret K-pop Chat Groups”has brought to light Seungri’s involvement as a tycoon who exploited women for monetary gain, sparking widespread outrage.
Amidst this, there have been widespread circulating moments from 2018 of the former BIGBANG member interacting with female idols. This was one year before his sex scandal was exposed and during this time, many female K-pop stars kept their distance from Seungri, expressing discomfort and negative opinions about him.
In 2018, Seungri starred in the sitcom “YG Future Strategy Office”as the head of HR. Along with Seungri, other well-known celebrities such as members of BLACKPINK also made appearances in the documentary. During their interactions and collaborations with Seungri, BLACKPINK members Jennie, Jisoo, and Lisa expressed feeling uneasy and uncomfortable.

Seungri had a meeting with the members of BLACKPINK and informed them about an upcoming event that they were required to attend as YG artists. Jisoo responded by explaining that the group had to film a new MV and would not be able to participate. In a authoritative manner, Seungri insisted that BLACKPINK could film the MV at a later time and still had to attend the annual event.
As Rosé was feeling pressured, they stated that it was necessary to consult the company president before making a decision. This response greatly annoyed Seungri, who snapped, “You’ve only just risen to fame and yet you dare to speak like this?”He then turned to Jennie and inquired if she would like to leave, but she shook her head. Seungri soon realized that he could not force BLACKPINK and abruptly concluded the meeting on a bitter tone.
Upon concluding their conversation, Jisoo made a mental note that Seungri had been noticeably uneasy around everyone as of late.
In the documentary, one particularly noteworthy scene features singer Sunmi candidly sharing on camera that she had been advised by senior colleagues, particularly females, to avoid Seungri and not associate with him.
The portrayal of Seungri in “YG Future Strategy Office”has attracted a lot of attention and sparked intense discussions on the internet. Looking back at these scenes after the scandal, many viewers were disturbed by them. They believed that Seungri’s real-life disturbing behavior was accurately portrayed in his role as the HR director who held control over others on screen.
Additionally, fans are convinced that BLACKPINK and Sunmi were aware of Seungri’s true character and strategically used their scripted remarks about him as an opportunity to subtly expose it.
