During the July 11 installment of Kim Jaejoong’s YouTube series ‘Jaefriends’, (G)I-DLE’s Minnie openly discussed speculation surrounding her background, disclosing unexpected information about her family’s affluence and position.
As they talked, Jaejoong, renowned for his graciousness, graciously served Minnie his homemade kimchijjim as they chatted about (G)I-DLE’s achievements and their newest album.
As their conversation grew more intimate, Jaejoong asked Minnie about her living situation in Thailand, to which she promptly clarified:
“No, I live with my parents.”
Upon the production team sharing photos of Minnie’s family property, which was previously known for its luxurious interior, the conversation took an unexpected turn. Jaejoong’s reaction was evident as he expressed surprise upon seeing the pictures of a lavish pool and a home fitness center.
Minnie quickly corrected the misconception, explaining, “The pool isn’t at my house. That’s actually from the hotel.”
Jaejoong, clearly amused, reacted with astonishment, exclaiming, “Oh, your grandmother owns a hotel? You really are a Thai princess!”
During the later part of the show, Jaejoong mentioned Minnie’s striking look at the Songkran Festival in Thailand, where she wore traditional royal clothing.
Minnie revealed, “Those clothes were worn by the royal family long ago. The entire outfit costs over 1 billion KRW (727,003 USD), made entirely of real gold and diamonds. It was extremely heavy, so I had to maintain an upright position the whole time.”
Upon reminiscing about the festival, Minnie recounted, “My parents were bursting with pride. They were positively glowing throughout the entire day. Numerous esteemed actors and actresses were in attendance, and I stood confidently among them.”
In a recent reality show teaser, (G)I-DLE’s Minnie’s family home in Thailand gained attention for its opulence and historical artifacts. Fans were impressed by the luxurious interior and antique-filled rooms, further solidifying Minnie’s status as a ‘Thai Princess.’
Minnie comes from a well-connected family in Thailand, with her grandparents owning a luxurious resort, her uncle being a renowned classical pianist, and her father holding the position of president at Bangkok’s YMCA Group.
Minnie’s aunt, a descendant of the last king of Lanna, further strengthens her ‘Thai Princess’ nickname. The group’s EP, ‘I Love,’ is scheduled to be launched on October 17.
