From Pokémon Go Eggs to Infinity Stones: when fiction meets gaming

A Pokémon Go player joked that hatching multiple Eggs at once was like “collecting the Infinity Stones” from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Pokémon Go lets fans of the long-running franchise explore the real world to find, capture, and hatch Pokémon to help them battle against Gym Champions, complete raids, and more.

Considering the game is almost a decade old now, there’s no shortage of content, with some players having amassed an impressive repertoire of Pokémon and consumables over the years.

While capturing Pokémon is always a reliable way to level up your team, hatching Pokémon can be another way to obtain new and special companions.

However, in a new thread on Reddit, a Pokémon Go player joked that instead of hatching eggs to find new Pokémon, they were actually looking for “infinity stones.”

The original poster shared an image on Reddit of four Pokémon eggs hatching. Each egg varied slightly in appearance and color to signify the different Pokémon and types found in each egg.

When all four eggs chose to hatch at the same time, the scene looked like something out of an MCU movie, as if each of the eggs was actually an Infinity Stone.

Pokémon Go fans flooded the comments section of the Reddit thread, adding to the joke in their own way.

A Redditor commented: “Ptyranidur, Pandespiègle, Excelangue, Passerouge. These stones suck, I don’t know what Thanos saw there.”

Another cleverly referenced Thanos joking that the four eggs hatching at once “was inevitable” and that if the player collected two more, they could “finally make those Pikachu disappear from events with a snap of fingers” .

However, other Pokémon Go players have claimed that Eggs are more like another popular video game franchise.

“You collect Yoshi eggs from Super Mario World,” another Redditor replied.
