FromSoftware kindly asks Elden Ring players not to spoil Shadow of the Erdtree

FromSoftware has been diligent in ensuring that players can fully embrace the upcoming challenge of Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion without any spoilers, as it looms just beyond the horizon.

The studio issued a statement on the official X/Twitter page for the acclaimed RPG, addressing all Tarnished and reminding them to “Be mindful of spoilers”for themselves and others when the DLC is released and they enter the mysterious Shadow Realm.

FromSoftware had a small request for fans.

The message echoes the one previously released prior to the base game’s launch in 2022. With fans having waited over two years for the only post-release content for Elden Ring, revealing the secrets woven into SotE so close to its release would be highly disappointing.

Based on the reactions to the X post, it is clear that the people of the Lands Between, from the past, present, and future, are coming together in solidarity in response to From’s warning.

“According to one response, Godfrey and Serosh would punish any spoilers, and another person promised to refrain from posting virtual photography for a while in order to avoid spoiling others. It is clear that spoilers are not appreciated by many.”

It is noteworthy that the release of the message has led some to believe that FromSoftware is acknowledging the existence of unverified leaks circulating on the internet. However, comments on a Reddit discussion about the post reiterate that this type of announcement is typical before the release of a major FromSoftware game and does not necessarily indicate a connection between the two.

One comment on the thread states, “Just to clarify, this is not confirming or denying the validity of any leaks. This is a standard no-spoiler announcement that was also made before the releases of Armored Core and Elden Ring base game, both at the beginning of their respective release weeks.”
