Several buildings can be researched from the Idea Tree, which can then be constructed over Industrial Districts. Please note that the buildings listed below can only be placed over Industrial Districts that have been expanded.

To expand a District, click on the Industrial District and select the expansion icon. Each District can be expanded a maximum of two times. If you require additional buildings from the list below, you will need to create more Industrial Districts.

1. Mechanical Factory

The first building to pursue can be found in the Idea Tree under the ‘Factories’ section of the ‘Resources’ category. Once you research and build this structure, it will generate 40 Goods or 10 Prefabs at the expense of 60 Materials.

Since your citizens will require a substantial quantity of Goods, it’s advised to establish this building early in your game of Frostpunk 2 to ensure a steady supply over time.

To construct a Mechanical Factory, you’ll need to meet the following requirements:

  • 300 Workforce
  • 180 Heatstamps
  • 90 Prefabs
  • Expanded Industrial District

2. Refurbishing Goods Factory

While the Mechanical Factory is suitable for a smaller population in the early game and can produce a fair amount of Goods, a larger colony will necessitate faster and more efficient production methods per week in Frostpunk 2.

The Refurbishing Goods Factory, found in the Idea Tree under the ‘Goods Factories’ category of ‘Resources’, is the next optimal upgrade for accelerating Goods production.

A significant advantage of this building is that it only requires 10 Heat and 30 Materials to operate and generate Goods, producing a total of 60 Goods.

Requirements for constructing a Refurbishing Goods Factory include:

  • 400 Workforce
  • 350 Heatstamps
  • 180 Prefabs
  • 1 Core
  • 1 Empty building slot in an Industrial District

When you find Materials in Frostland, construct more Industrial Districts and utilize the surplus Materials to create Goods. Having a larger stockpile of Goods will be beneficial during challenging times, particularly during the Whiteout.
