On the recent June 9th episode of SBS’s variety show “My Little Old Boy” , viewers were treated to a special moment as Lee Sang-min and Kim Jong-kook paid a visit to actor Choi Jin-hyuk’s home.
Lee Sang-min and Kim Jong-kook, who were invited by Choi Jin-hyuk, questioned the reason for their invitation.
Choi Jin-hyuk revealed that his mother had advised him to take lessons from his friends, implying that she frequently reprimanded him for his spending habits and leading him to seek their guidance.
Upon hearing Choi Jin-hyuk’s mother’s plans, Kim Jong-kook, renowned for his frugal ways in the entertainment industry, wasted no time in criticizing the excessive consumption of wet wipes upon his arrival.
After that, he mentioned that Choi Jin-hyuk was using two air conditioners even though he was the only one at home.
Kim Jong-kook was taken aback by Choi Jin-hyuk’s claim that he had been using the air conditioner for a month already. He chuckled in disbelief and commented, “No wonder it’s been so chilly in here.”
Kim Jong-kook revealed that he refrains from using the air conditioner even during the peak of summer. On the other hand, Choi Jin-hyuk defended his stance by stating, “I usually keep it running. I’ve heard that constantly turning it on and off can result in a higher electricity bill.”
“Frustrated, Kim Jong-kook responded, “The most economical option would be to not use it at all. What exactly are you talking about?”
Despite the sweltering summer nights, Kim Jong-kook shared his preference for using fans instead of air conditioners and his method for enduring the heat.
Surprising everyone, he revealed, “I sleep entirely unclothed, with no covering, simply lying motionless with the fan on, and it feels a bit chilly.”
Viewers of the show responded with remarks such as “What is the purpose of earning money then?”, “He is incredibly thrifty”, “That is how one saves money”, “It’s impressive that he refrains from using the air conditioner when alone but turns it on for guests”, and “Saving appears to be a part of his lifestyle.”
