Frustration is mounting among Fortnite players as Epic Games continues to implement significant menu and user interface (UI) updates. While there’s excitement surrounding recent collaborations and events, many users feel that frequent changes are undermining their gaming experience.
The gaming community is buzzing with anticipation for the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong event, which is expected to introduce thrilling elements such as NPC boss battles, map modifications, and new mythic abilities. Additionally, the long-awaited partnership with Hatsune Miku has finally materialized, delighting fans. Yet, amidst this excitement, a growing discontent is brewing over the constant alterations to the game’s backend features, particularly with the Locker interface.
Last season, Epic made sweeping changes to the Locker UI during Chapter 5, resulting in widespread backlash from users who criticized the new layout as “garbage.” In response to this uproar, the developers revamped the Locker based on community feedback. However, this update also failed to meet expectations, leaving many players disappointed.
Community Outcry: A Call for Stability in UI Design
The recent Godzilla update further aggravated players by altering the Emote Wheel; it now defaults to displaying all emotes instead of those chosen by the player in the Locker. This change has raised questions among the community about the necessity of the modification.
Frustrations regarding these UI updates have erupted across platforms like Reddit, where players have voiced their displeasure over various aspects of the Locker. Many complaints center around issues such as the removal of item organization by rarity and a disconcerting shift in color schemes, reflecting a broader dissatisfaction with the game’s navigation experience.
One user lamented, “The game UI has steadily become more and more dogsh*t,” capturing the sentiments of numerous players. Another added, “I hate the new UI for every single aspect of the game, not just the locker.” The nostalgia for the original Fortnite experience has been reignited with the return of some classic features, prompting players to reminisce about simpler times: “I forgot how amazing the old locker was,” one fan reminisced.
Additionally, the newly introduced Quest UI has not been exempt from criticism, with players questioning its relevance and effectiveness in the game. While it’s evident that the recent UI modifications have not resonated well with the community, there is still hope for the excitement surrounding Chapter 6 Season 1—offering players new map changes to explore and enjoy.
