On Wednesday, August 6, 2024, there were reports of multiple anime projects being leaked online prior to their scheduled premieres. These included the Terminator Zero anime, the first episode of Re:ZERO season 3, and other unreleased content. This follows yesterday’s alleged leak of the first episode and theme songs for the Dandadan anime, with further episodes also being reported as leaked on this day.
Although the majority of the leaks originate from Netflix and their future anime projects, there are also some specific instances, such as the leak of Re:ZERO season 3 episode 1, which come from Crunchyroll. Regardless, it is evident that these leaks, including those of the Terminator Zero anime and the Dandadan anime, show no signs of decreasing anytime soon.
Terminator Zero Anime, Re:ZERO Season 3 Episode 1 Leaks, and More Only the Start Per X Users
The news of the leaks for the Terminator Zero anime and the first episode of Re:ZERO season 3 was initially reported on the X social media platform (previously known as Twitter) on the morning of August 6. Other series that were leaked, but not previously mentioned, include three out of the first four episodes of the upcoming remake of Ranma ½ and the entire film project for Mononoke the Movie: Phantom in the Rain.
The origin of these leaks can be linked to uploads on public forum board sites such as 5chan and piracy BitTorrent sites. Despite their low quality, with blurred watermarks and burned-in timestamps, they appear to be authentic production leaks. Unfortunately, it is not possible to verify their authenticity until each project is officially released and these leaks can be compared to the official versions.
The leaks for the Ranma ½ anime are particularly worrisome, as the show was originally scheduled to have its world premiere at Anime NYC on Saturday, August 24. It was then supposed to debut in Japan in early October 2024 and become available for streaming on Netflix internationally afterwards. While the leak for the Dandadan anime is still unfortunate, it is slightly less alarming given its upcoming release plans.
The anime will have its first three episodes screened as a theatrical project in Asia, starting on August 31. This will be followed by premieres in Europe on September 7 and North America on September 13. Throughout the month of September, the screenings will continue to expand to over 50 countries and regions, leading up to the anime’s television debut in October. The series will also be available for streaming internationally on both Netflix and Crunchyroll.
The highly-anticipated Terminator Zero anime has unfortunately been leaked in its entirety several weeks before its scheduled Netflix debut on August 29. Similarly, the first episode of Re:ZERO season 3 has also been leaked well in advance of its planned October premiere, which was set to include a one-hour special. Additionally, although the Mononoke film project did open in Japanese theaters on July 26, the leak is especially noteworthy as there is currently no confirmation of any international licensing or screenings for the film.
