Full WALL-E movie receives over 1.5M views before YouTube takes action

Despite the video platform finally taking action, it was too late for a YouTube user who had already garnered 1.5M views by uploading a full copy of Pixar’s WALL-E before the takedown occurred.

Despite having stringent regulations on copyrighted content being uploaded, YouTube faced criticism after a full version of WALL-E remained undetected on the platform for several days, leaving viewers perplexed.

On August 22, a user named Jupiter uploaded the animated Disney classic to YouTube with the obvious title of ‘Wall E Full Movie!’

Three days after its release, TheBobPony, a user on YouTube, shared a screenshot of the film, expressing surprise that it had not been flagged for copyright infringement despite bypassing the site’s content ID. The screenshot also revealed that the movie had already been viewed 1.4 million times.

A week had passed since the initial upload when YouTube finally issued a response to the post, acknowledging that it was aware of the video. “We are stepping in to address this issue and have removed the video,”stated TeamYouTube.

TheBobPony refuted the idea that YouTube had taken down the WALL-E upload, clarifying that the video was only set to private. The user also denied reporting the Disney movie to the Google-owned company.

“Contrary to some claims, I did not report the video to YouTube. To be honest, given the high number of views it had, it was inevitable that the video would be taken down eventually. My original intention in tweeting about it was simply to share the wildest thing I had seen on YouTube,”TheBobPony clarified.

Furthermore, I did not contact any of YouTube’s official accounts or send them a direct message about this issue. It appears that a social media manager unintentionally used incorrect wording.

It is rather intriguing that it took YouTube so long to address the availability of WALL-E, given that the platform typically responds promptly in removing other forms of content.

To illustrate, earlier this month, the platform shut down Twitch personality Amouranth’s ASMR channel for violating its guidelines on “sexual content,”despite the streamer’s insistence that her banned video was not inappropriate.
