Gabbie Hanna, 33, initially gained fame on the now-defunct video app Vine and has since built a considerable following on YouTube and TikTok, alongside her music career. With millions of followers across various platforms, she has established herself as a prominent influencer for over a decade.
In August 2022, Gabbie raised alarms among her fans after posting over a hundred TikTok videos in a single day, discussing various sensitive subjects, including religion and death. She faced backlash for remarks perceived as racist, which added to the growing concern for her well-being.
Following this incident, Gabbie addressed fans, stating that she experienced a manic episode related to her bipolar disorder. Despite this, fans remained worried due to her prolonged absence from the public eye.
Throughout her online career, Gabbie has been at the center of several controversies, including a notable conflict with Angelika Oles. Typically, she would take a short break from the internet whenever disputes arose but would return after a brief withdrawal. However, in 2023, she took an unprecedented break, not posting on her social media platforms for a year, until her recent comeback.

In July 2023, Gabbie appeared on Prince Ea’s podcast Sauna Sessions and discussed her perspectives on social media, explaining her reduced activity levels.
She shared that she had deleted social media apps from her phone, which may account for her lack of content during recent months.
Gabbie shocked fans by revealing she was considering completely deleting her social media accounts. She stated, “I’m trying to work up the strength to actually delete. But I can’t figure out if that’s what I’m supposed to do or not. Specifically TikTok. Because I feel like TikTok is just like the cesspool the worst of the worst.”
Gabbie expressed her reservations about TikTok, criticizing the platform’s content and users. She articulated that she prefers privacy over the public scrutiny of social media, having realized that the fame and attention don’t align with her personal desires.
Gabbie returns to social media and compares herself to Britney Spears
On February 29, Gabbie marked her return to social media with the release of a music video titled ‘Where Did I Go?’ on her YouTube channel.
Accompanying the video, she shared several posts across Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter, and began a series of vlogs discussing her hiatus, including her decision to quit smoking and her recovery journey from social media addiction.
Gabbie is now consistently posting weekly content on YouTube, receiving an influx of welcoming comments from fans excited about her return and supporting her new music.
During an interview at Oxford University Union, Gabbie elaborated on her experience of stepping away from social media after being labeled “crazy” by many. She compared her situation to Britney Spears during the Free Britney movement, where she argued against being perceived as “crazy” simply for pursuing her dreams.
“Why am I the crazy one, when you’re watching me living my dream?” she questioned.
