Some significant changes are set to land in Pokémon GO, as the recently announced Galarian Expedition event introduces not one or two, but four different Legendary Shiny Pokémon to the game.
We’re currently in the Max Out season, which brings exciting new gameplay mechanics through Dynamax Battles, and it serves as a tribute to the Galar region, introducing many beloved Pokémon from Sword and Shield.
As part of this season, players will soon see Shiny Zacian introduced in the Legendary Heroes event, and it’s confirmed that Shiny Zamazenta will appear in Raids shortly thereafter.
Additionally, players can look forward to encountering the shiny variants of the Galarian Legendary birds when utilizing Daily Adventure Incense.

This news is especially thrilling for trainers who own Origin Forme Dialga, as this Pokémon’s unique Adventure Effect is about to become even more crucial. Sorry, Palkia owners!
Since the event was announced, prominent Pokémon players have expressed their excitement about the chance to catch the Shiny forms of the Galarian Birds and are already strategizing on how to find them.
Content creator Shiny Catherine tweeted, “If the Galarian birds can be shiny, I am going to be playing so much Pokémon GO, you have no idea,” to which another user responded, “Make sure to check if you’ve stacked up on Master Balls and/or can use Roar of Time with Origin Dialga.”
For those unfamiliar, Roar of Time extends the duration of Incense effects—including Daily Adventure Incense— which is currently the sole method to locate the legendary Galarian birds.
In fact, when the Adventure Effect was launched, Pokémon players, like in this video from creator Poke Daxi, used thousands of Candy and Stardust to maximize the Daily Adventure Incense to last for a full 24 hours.
Moreover, while it’s not definitively confirmed, it’s widely believed that if a player encounters a Shiny version of the Galarian Birds, they won’t have the ability to flee as they typically would. Although it may take a number of Poké Balls to catch them, at least they won’t make a run for it.
So, check your Pokémon, and if you possess Dialga with the Roar of Time Adventure Effect—earned through the Pokémon GO Sinnoh Tour 2024 event—you’re in luck. Otherwise, we can only hope Niantic plans to reintroduce Dialga and its effect in the future, giving Trainers more opportunities to catch these elusive birds.
