Galaxy S25 Ultra leak reveals disappointing battery & charging specs

The release of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected in early 2025, but unfortunately, those hoping for improvements to its battery and charging capabilities will be disappointed.

According to renowned leaker Digital Chat Station, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will feature identical battery and charging specifications as its previous model. This news was shared on the Chinese social media platform Weibo.

DCS boasts that the smartphone will include a powerful 5,000mAh battery and a rapid 45W charging speed. This may not seem too shabby when compared to iPhones and Google Pixels, as both devices currently do not exceed a 30W charging speed or a 5,000mAh battery capacity.

Despite the traditional limitations, the OnePlus 12 has successfully challenged the norm by surpassing these numbers. With a powerful 5,400mAh battery and 80W wired charging capability, this smartphone proves that there is room for improvement. Interestingly, its wireless charging speed of 50W even outpaces the rumored wired charging speed of the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The OnePlus 13 is said to have a 6,000mAh battery, and upcoming OnePlus models could potentially feature an even larger 7000mAh battery.

DCS expressed similar concerns, noting that the current charging speeds are falling behind the advancements in technology and that a 5,000mAh battery will be considered outdated once the S25 Ultra is released. They anticipate that a 6,000mAh battery will become the norm in the industry at that time.

The individual who leaked this information provided additional evidence to support the prior rumors regarding the S25 Ultra’s inclusion of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and its 3x mid-focus and 5x periscope ultra-telephoto lenses. It should be noted that the Galaxy S24 Ultra also utilizes the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip.

The information about the camera is consistent with a previous leak from May, which disclosed that the S25 Ultra will contain a revamped camera setup consisting of a 200 MP main camera, a 50 MP ultrawide camera, a 50 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 50 MP super-telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.
