According to a survey conducted by Gallup Korea, it was discovered that THESE 4 K-pop groups are the most popular among individuals aged 13 and above.
On June 19, a renowned public opinion research organization conducted a survey among 1,777 South Koreans nationwide (excluding Jeju Island) to determine their top picks in different categories, including singers, dramas, movies, comedians, and more.
The information was collected between March 22 and April 5, with participants ranging in age from 13 years old and above.
Among the results, the rankings for Koreans’ “Favorite Singer”caught the attention of K-pop and music fans. This is because it is a crucial factor in shaping the current perception of the most popular idols among those outside the K-pop community.
Out of the Top 10, only 4 K-pop idols made it onto the rankings, with IU being the highest ranked among them. She received 9% of the votes, placing her in second position behind trot and ballad singer Lim Young Woong.
In Korea, she is widely recognized as the “Nation’s Sweetheart”and one of the leading singers who gained fame for her hit songs such as “Celebrity,””Eight”(PROD. SUGA), “Love Wins All,”and others.
She recently wrapped up her “H.E.R.E.H”tour in Korea, where she captivated not only fans of all ages but also top-tier celebrities, showcasing her undeniable influence.
According to the survey, the majority of her votes were received from men, teenagers, and individuals in their 30s.
Despite the singer-actress taking the lead, BTS secured the 3rd spot with 4.9% of the votes, a testament to their enduring popularity, particularly as the majority of the members are currently fulfilling their military duties.
After leader Jin’s recent discharge, there is a great anticipation for the type of influence he will bring to South Korea as he represents the group as a soloist.
Out of all the fourth-generation groups, only NewJeans managed to secure the title of the most beloved girl group with 3.5% of the votes, placing them at 5th position.
It is remarkable that they have achieved such success and recognition, considering they only made their debut in 2022.
From their very first hits, including “Hype Boy,””Super Shy,””Ditto,”and more, they have solidified their place in the global music scene and continue to maintain their position to this day.
With a final tally of 2.2%, BLACKPINK clinched the 10th spot, securing the last available seat.
Despite not releasing any new music as a group for the past 2 years, they solidified their widespread appeal with their world tour, “BORN PINK.”
The label revealed that there are no plans for a group comeback this year, but it has been reported that the quartet is making preparations for a special event to commemorate their 8th debut anniversary with their fans, BLINKs.
