Game Dev Offers Free Game if Silksong is Featured in Nintendo Direct

One game developer has increased the potential rewards for Nintendo’s upcoming Direct by guaranteeing players a complimentary copy of their game if Silksong is featured in the live broadcast.

Pere Albacar, the founder of Guateke Studios, declared on X/Twitter that responding to the initial comment would qualify users for a complimentary copy of Sands of Hope.

As the post has gained viral attention, Team Cherry’s Metroidvania sequel to Hollow Knight being featured in the presentation means that Albacar will be responsible for providing over 10,000 Steam keys.

Critics of the proposal have been quick to mention the costly wager. One comment states, “Your finances are DOOMED,”and adds, “Regardless, I’ll also accept a copy, thank you.”

Albacar deserves credit for their lighthearted responses to those who have pointed out the potential backlash they may face if Silksong is released, joking about having to give away countless copies of Sands of Hope.

It is highly unlikely that Albacar has anything to worry about.

Initially revealed in 2019, Silksong was originally planned as downloadable content for Hollow Knight. However, as the development expanded, Team Cherry made the decision to turn it into a standalone game. Despite releasing occasional gameplay trailers, the team has remained tight-lipped about the project’s progress.

Despite the disappointment felt by fans when Team Cherry confirmed that Silksong would not be featured at Microsoft’s Xbox Showcase on June 9, there has been no indication that it will be included in the upcoming June 18 Nintendo Direct. As always, hope for the indie darling’s appearance must be approached with caution.

Despite not knowing much, one thing we can confirm is that this Nintendo Direct will last approximately 40 minutes and will not include any information about the upcoming successor to the Switch.
