Not long after popular streamers xQc and summit1g faced unexpected bans from playing Marauders on Steam, the game’s developers addressed the situation.
On Monday, October 21, while streaming, xQc was surprised to see a notification about a game ban on his Steam profile.
Out of curiosity, he followed the link and discovered that he had been banned by the creators of Marauders, an indie looter-shooter that entered early access in 2022.
“Huh? Wait, what? By Marauders?” he exclaimed.

Shortly after, the developers of Marauders made an appearance on Reddit to clarify the issue.
“Hello Everyone! We’ve become aware that several notable Content Creators who previously engaged with our game have recently faced bans, despite not playing for a while. To clarify, this was NOT an intentional act on our end, and given that these notable creators were all affected, we suspect this isn’t just a coincidence. We’re currently investigating the matter to understand what happened and resolve it,” they stated.
“So far, it seems that the bans are not linked to in-game actions, but rather those impacted might have been flagged due to their past involvement with Marauders. Other games appear to be encountering similar issues, and we apologize to those affected for the trouble this has caused.”
The developers also mentioned they have reached out to several affected creators and found “no indication” of any wrongdoing in their records.
“It’s possible that this issue originates from Valve’s side, and we’re collaborating with them to get to the bottom of this. In the meantime, we encourage everyone to monitor their accounts,” they concluded.
Although xQc’s ban from playing Marauders seems unwarranted, he is no stranger to getting banned in video games. In July, he was temporarily barred from chatting in Valorant after using a derogatory term towards a teammate.
