The ongoing scrutiny surrounding actor Kim Soo-hyun due to his previous relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron has intensified. Recently, the Korean Sexual Violence Relief Center, also known as Garo Sero, publicly contested Kim Soo-hyun’s claims that his accuser’s evidence was falsified.
Kim Soo-hyun’s Agency Rejects Dating Allegations from 2018
In a press conference held on March 31, Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, issued a statement on April 2. They contested claims made by Kim Sae-ron’s representatives, asserting that the photos presented were taken after she had reached adulthood, thus rendering them misleading.

Gold Medalist validated the existence of communication messages from KakaoTalk and a video dating back to 2018 but clarified that the communications occurred only during Kim Soo-hyun’s military leave in April of that year, denying any personal encounters until the summer of 2019. They also confirmed that the mentioned video was recorded at Kim Soo-hyun’s family’s apartment in Seongsu-dong, emphasizing that his family was present, stating, “There was no romantic relationship at that time.”
In addition, Gold Medalist revealed that they have filed a complaint against Kim Se-eui, the head of the Garo Sero Research Institute, alleging breaches of the Anti-Stalking Act.
Garo Sero’s Forensic Counterarguments
In a swift rebuttal, Garo Sero conducted a live broadcast where they challenged the “fabrication”claims, unveiling findings from an extensive forensic examination. They stated, “We analyzed five phones and four laptops, along with tablets, in conjunction with South Korea’s largest forensic firm.”
They further disclosed, “We possess Kim Soo-hyun’s phone numbers but have opted to pixelate them for privacy concerns. Thus far, the presented screenshots, FaceTime records, and call logs are only partial.”

One significant disclosure was a KakaoTalk message allegedly sent by Kim Sae-ron to Kim Soo-hyun on April 13, 2018, at 2:30 AM, during his military service. The message stated, “Oppa, you’re there when you want to see me, but never when I need you. If you won’t try, I won’t see you anymore.”

Garo Sero asserted that this message directly contradicts the agency’s claim that the duo was not in a relationship during that period, emphasizing, “Forensics don’t lie. If they weren’t dating, this would constitute grooming.”At the time of this correspondence, Kim Sae-ron, who was born on July 31, 2000, was 17 years old in Korean age (16 internationally), highlighting further ethical and potential legal complications pertaining to their interactions.
The conflicting narratives presented by both sides, supported by their respective evidence, have heightened public interest in this case. The fallout from this controversy extends beyond Kim Soo-hyun’s professional life, impacting sponsorship deals and public appearances, while igniting broader discussions about privacy rights, personal accountability, and ethical standards in the entertainment industry.
