Recent Outburst from Sulli’s Brother Draws Attention
On March 21, Sulli’s brother took to Instagram to express cryptic sentiments regarding an individual he referred to as “Mr. Kim.”He wrote, “I have a lot to say about Mr. Kim, but I can’t say it. You’re going to fall from a high place—hold on tight.” This post rapidly attracted criticism, prompting him to clarify his stance later that day.

In his follow-up commentary, he lamented the behavior of so-called fans, stating, “How are so-called fans this unhelpful? I didn’t even mention the name ‘Soo Hyun, ’ yet you all rushed in. I bet you’re frustrated you can’t fact-check, right? I’ve spent years living with that same frustration.” He expressed the emotional toll of his experiences, revealing his reliance on the mindset of acceptance to maintain his sanity. His final sentiments urged critics to refrain from discussing Sulli, expressing discontent over her name being repeatedly involved in controversies.

The Legacy of Sulli: A Troubled Journey
Sulli tragically passed away on October 14, 2019, at just 25 years old. Throughout her life, she battled negative public scrutiny and fierce online bullying. Her struggles became pronounced after her relationship with Dynamic Duo’s Choiza became public in 2014, leading her to step away from the entertainment industry temporarily due to the distressing backlash. Ultimately, she officially departed from the girl group f(x) in 2015.

Following her death, controversy reignited with the airing of MBC’s documentary DocuPlex, which included interviews with both Choiza and Sulli’s mother, who had opposed their relationship. The mixed sentiments this generated led to the suspension of the program’s rewatch service.

Despite her tragic fate, Sulli left behind an enduring legacy as an outspoken advocate. Shows such as Jinri Store and JTBC’s Night of Hate Comments showcased her dedication to confronting societal issues, which earned her considerable public respect. In a notable gesture, the Jinri Store production team donated 15, 000 sanitary pads to the Gimpo Welfare Foundation in November 2019 in her honor, ensuring her impact continues.

Controversy Surrounding the Film Real
In 2017, Sulli starred alongside Kim Soo Hyun in the film Real, a project that attracted significant attention when it was revealed that her character, Song Yoo-hwa, engaged in explicit scenes without a body double—a topic that later became a focal point in discussions about the pressures faced by actors.

Recent remarks from the Garosero Research Institute shed light on Sulli’s brother’s initial post, suggesting that it may have been directed towards Kim Soo Hyun, especially in the context of ongoing discussions about the film. The institute further indicated that the pressure surrounding Sulli’s nude scenes in Real might have exacerbated the relentless public scrutiny she experienced throughout her career.
