The digital auction platform JOOPITER, established by pop sensation Pharrell Williams, recently hosted an auction named “Nothing But a G Thang: The Art & Archive of G-Dragon” from September 2nd to 10th.
G-Dragon presented a selection of fashion items, contemporary art pieces, design objects, and memorabilia he amassed over the years. Among the auctioned items, the highest bid was placed on a vibrant fur coat from Saga Furs, which G-Dragon showcased during his solo rap performance at the 2014 MAMA Awards and during the BIGBANG’s “MADE” tour in 2015.
On September 9th, just a day prior to the auction’s conclusion, the bid for the fur coat stood at $12,000, but within a mere 10 minutes, it skyrocketed to $81,000. Ultimately, the coat fetched an astounding price of $125,000 (approximately 167 Million Korean won) on September 10th.
Moreover, a director’s chair featuring G-Dragon’s real name “Kwon Ji-yong,” used during his 2017 “Act III: M.O.T.T.E” world tour, was sold for $51,250. Additionally, a personalized Chanel belt from the 2010 spring/summer collection, inscribed with “Kim Chaos Loves GD!” , was auctioned for $31,250.
