As the storyline of Jujutsu Kaisen continues, Gege Akutami reveals more details about Gojo Satoru. Despite being adored by many, his past and interests remained a mystery. However, Gege has recently provided answers to thirty-three questions about Gojo.
Gege Akutami unveiled additional details about Gojo Satoru, one of the most beloved characters in Jujutsu Kaisen, ranging from his strengths to his vulnerabilities. Read on to discover more about him.
Gojo’s Past and Family
Despite the mystery surrounding Gojo’s background and family in Jujutsu Kaisen, author Gege recently provided some insight. In a recent interview, Gege shared that Gojo hails from Kyoto, with his family home also situated there. However, due to being separated from them at a young age for missions and training, Gojo does not frequently use the local dialect.
Gojo became a Jujutsu sorcerer after growing tired of his controlling family. Another significant revelation concerns Gojo’s family, as many had wondered about their fate. According to Gege, Gojo’s parents are alive and gained a higher social standing after his birth. However, they are not particularly powerful and Gojo was separated from them at a young age.
Gege disclosed that Gojo was an only child who was treated differently due to his strength, making it difficult for him to have regular conversations with relatives. In Chapter 96, Ogami and the others witnessed Gojo wandering around the city, which was actually him running away from home.
Highschool Days and More
Despite undergoing strict training to become a Jujutsu Sorcerer, he managed to escape and take a break to enjoy himself. Prior to enrolling in the school, he already had experience in combat and exorcising curses. Unlike his fellow students at Jujutsu High who could personalize their uniforms, Gojo’s uniform remained plain and unaltered.
Gege continues to discuss Geto’s uniform, prompting us to question how he came up with the unique design. In his high school years, Gojo had a gravure idol as his wallpaper, but eventually stopped due to Ieiri’s discomfort with it.
Despite being a member of one of the most powerful clans, Gojo was not well-received by his upperclassmen in the school dorms. His strength and status made them wary and less likely to interact with him, as they saw him as a potential threat. Having such a formidable underclassman was not viewed positively by them.
It can be presumed that Gojo had a mentor during his childhood as he acquired the fundamental skills of Jujutsu from his family, the Gojo clan. Despite having to put in great effort to perfect his techniques on his own, Gojo receives a monthly salary that is on par with that of a minister, unlike Mei Mei who receives a one-time payment. Additionally, he also benefits from the assets of the Gojo clan, making him financially well-off.
Gojo Satoru’s Likes and Dislikes
Despite his desire to become a Jujutsu Sorcerer, Gojo never wavered. When questioned about any potential insecurities Gojo may have, Gege replied that he may not have any. However, if he were to have any, it could be said that his inability to stop Geto might be one.
Despite Gojo’s anger and sadness over Yuji’s death, there was a part of him that accepted it as a possibility. He believed that anyone could die at any given moment. When asked about what brought Gojo joy or what he enjoyed most, Gege couldn’t imagine it, but he speculated that Gojo would be pleased to see someone with great potential as a Jujutsu Sorcerer.
Despite primarily speaking Japanese, Gojo is able to understand some English. While he possesses the skill of cooking, it is not something he frequently practices. It was highly improbable for Gojo to possess a license, but if he did, he would have easily passed the test and become a paper driver.
If he were to become intoxicated, he would likely become unfocused, and his CT would start to malfunction. He is the type of individual who would enter a high-end store and purchase clothing without first checking the price. However, he would repeatedly reassure himself that it is fine after seeing the final cost.
Gege disclosed that Gojo’s personality is both his weakness and strength. He shows a preference for beaches over mountains and despite his appearance, he is actually a dog person. It can be assumed that he prefers bread over rice.
Gojo used to sleep at 4 am and wake up at 7 am. However, after Suguru’s defection, he became even more dependable as he developed a strong sense of responsibility towards nurturing the younger generation.
