The popularity and positive reception of anime adaptations from games is well known. However, there was one game in particular that fans were eagerly anticipating to be turned into an anime: Genshin Impact. This highly successful open-world game has managed to keep its players engaged and playing daily.

A year ago, they announced an anime adaptation in collaboration with Ufotable, and more recently, a short anime was unveiled.

Genshin Impact: The Road Not Taken Anime Official Announcement

On social media, Genshin Impact made an announcement about their upcoming short anime, “The Road Not Taken.”Although they only shared a key visual, it suggests that the anime will be released in the near future. The specific date and trailer have not yet been revealed.

The main focus of the key visual is on the two sibling characters, Aether and Lumine, as they lie on a grassy field. While Aether’s eyes are closed, Lumine’s are open.

Please take note that the Genshin Impact Version 4.7 livestream, set to take place on Friday, May 24, 2024, could potentially unveil further details about the anime. Make sure to keep an eye out for it.

Despite the high expectations from the studio, the trailer did not disappoint with its impressive animation and graphics quality. Fans were eagerly anticipating the adaptation, but there had been no further announcements until this point.

Due to their busy schedule with the production of Demon Slayer, Ufotable may not be able to create this short anime. It is expected that the Hoyoverse team will take on the task instead of the well-known studio.

Potential Plot of Genshin Impact: The Road Not Taken

The plot is completely speculative and is not officially confirmed.

If you are well-versed in literature, you may be acquainted with Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken.”The central idea of the poem revolves around the concept of decision-making in life. This can also be applied to the siblings (Lumine and Aether) in Genshin Impact, as they embark on separate paths.

In the game, you have the option to select one of the siblings as the protagonist. However, an unfamiliar deity captures the sibling you do not pick, causing them to become separated. Upon awakening from a slumber, you embark on a journey with Paimon, the guide, to reunite with your missing sibling as you traverse through Teyvat.

At this point, the situation becomes intriguing. Five hundred years ago, the sibling who was thought to be lost was awakened and ventured out into the world, witnessing the downfall of Khaenri’ah, a civilization that existed without a deity. The inhabitants of this nation were transformed into creatures by the Abyss Order. And now, the lost sibling has chosen to align with the Abyss and seek retribution against the Gods.

Given this, it is possible that the anime will depict the events prior to the siblings’ separation, as indicated by the visual showing them together. Alternatively, the anime could also present one of the siblings’ perspectives after they wake up.

Despite the plot, the anime adaptation’s upcoming release has generated excitement among both the anime and Genshin communities.
