Genshin Impact has recently announced that players will be rewarded with additional free Primogems for completing world exploration tasks, but there’s a catch.
Exploration is a crucial part of the Genshin Impact experience; however, it can become tedious as players search for every chest and strive to upgrade all the Statues of The Seven within each specific region, which can be quite time-consuming.
On September 25, Genshin Impact revealed that all players will receive an extra 400 free Primogems if they thoroughly explore each new region, but they must do so within the first two patches following the region’s release. For example, if a new region launches in patch 5.2, it needs to be fully explored by the release of patch 5.3, which allows for a total of three months to complete it.

Additionally, the first four regions of Natlan released in version 5.0—Basin of Unnumbered Flames, Tequemecan Valley, Costepec Mountain, and Toyac Springs—will also have rewards linked to them. However, these rewards will be available in version 5.1 and must be claimed before the end of version 5.2.
Players who have already completed exploring the regions mentioned above will be able to claim their rewards directly with the release of version 5.1.
This new change has garnered mixed reactions from fans. Some believe it is beneficial for free-to-play players, as the extra Primogems will make it easier to wish for new characters like Mavuika and Xilonen. One user expressed excitement, saying, “Insta reward for exploring—I’ll take that.”
On the contrary, many players feel that Genshin Impact is pressuring them to rush through content. One disappointed player noted on Reddit, “I enjoy exploration but at my own pace.” Another user remarked, “I find it interesting why they’ve started so strongly incentivizing people to get through content faster.”
Generally, exploration is something that most players tend to put off until they’ve completed other tasks in the game. However, this change implies that players will now need to prioritize world exploration while progressing through new content, including Archon Quests, side quests, and events.
While there are ongoing debates about Genshin Impact pushing players to expedite their pace, the allure of free Primogems is certainly something that nobody wants to overlook.
