According to various reports, Gentle Mates are aiming to assemble a championship-winning trio and an exciting young talent to finalize their roster for the 2025 Call of Duty League (CDL).
Although Gentle Mates have not yet been officially confirmed as a CDL franchise, they are certainly in the running for roster changes following their acquisition of the Los Angeles Guerrillas’ spot.
Initially, they attempted to capitalize on the super team being formed by LA Thieves, but ultimately redirected their focus towards recruiting a trio of world champions to initiate their CDL journey.
Reports indicate that Gentle Mates are targeting former New York Subliners champions Matthew ‘KiSMET’ Tinsley, Cesar ‘Skyz’ Bueno, and Preston ‘Priestahh’ Greiner to create their competitive team.
The New York Subliners were crowned the 2023 Call of Duty world champions.
If negotiations proceed positively, they plan to add Minnesota Rokkr’s Thomas ‘Lynz’ Gregorio, contingent on a successful buyout agreement with G2.
Both KiSMET and Skyz enjoyed considerable success in 2024 after their championship victory, including reaching the Champs grand final in an effort to defend their title. It will be fascinating to observe their performance alongside a different European SMG, rather than HyDra.
On the other hand, Priestahh faced challenges during his time on what started as a promising Boston Breach roster but ultimately found himself sidelined by the year’s end during the Esports World Cup.
Currently, Gentle Mates are working to secure agreements with both Cloud9 and G2 for player acquisition while also pursuing former New York head coach Ehsan ‘DREAL’ Javed. With three members of his previous championship roster reuniting, he aims to instill a winning culture and mentality to elevate the new franchise to success.
