George Cooper Actor Open to Cameo in Georgie & Mandy Series with One Condition

That’s right – Young Sheldon enthusiasts might have a chance to see George make a comeback in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, but it hinges on one crucial factor.

Since it unfolded in Dallas, who’s to say history can’t repeat itself? The series left fans heartbroken when George Cooper, Sheldon’s father, passed away off-screen in Season 7 Episode 12.

His funeral, which took place during the series finale, was one of the most heart-wrenching moments of the year, confirming that he won’t physically return for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.

Nonetheless, since the sitcom spinoff is still shooting its inaugural season, the possibilities are endless. Actor Lance Barber has been spotted at several show tapings and has expressed that he’s “open” to a posthumous cameo — but only under specific circumstances.

“If the writers choose to pursue that, I trust they will do so with thoughtfulness and respect, rather than as a gimmick to attract viewers through the ghost of George Cooper. If handled properly, then I would be on board. Otherwise, I feel fulfilled with how it ended,” Barber commented.

Barber also shared that he’s been genuinely moved by the way Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage has embraced George’s essence, despite his absence.

Although the family patriarch will be honored during the approaching Thanksgiving gathering, Episodes 1 and 2 lay the groundwork for how George’s influence will carry on in the series.

“I appreciate how George’s spirit carries on in the show… I believe this is where his legacy should conclude. His memory persists, and people talk about him,” Barber added.

“We all wish for this in our own lives – that we continue to exist through the recollections of family and those who cherished us.”

In Season 7 Episode 13, Georgie assured his father that he was managing everything well and was prepared to support the Cooper family in George’s absence. As we reconnect with him in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, we find him residing with Mandy in the McAllister family home.

The impact on his relationships with Mary and Missy remains to be explored, but we can confidently assume he prioritizes his young family’s welfare, just like his father did.
