Fans of Pokémon Go can look forward to the spotlight on Cryogonal, the icy snowflake Pokémon from Unova, as it makes a grand appearance during the Holiday Part 2 event. This event marks the debut of Cryogonal’s Dynamax form, providing players with an excellent opportunity to catch one of these elusive creatures.
Cryogonal was first introduced in the Pokémon franchise with Generation 5 in the Unova region, making its initial appearance in Pokémon Black & White. It subsequently arrived in Pokémon Go in December 2019, and now, in celebration of the latest Holiday event, players can engage with this Pokémon in exciting new ways.
Ways to Obtain Cryogonal in Pokémon Go
Players can capture Cryogonal in Pokémon Go through the following avenues:
- Encountering it in the wild.
- Defeating it as a Max Battle boss.
- Completing Field or Timed Research tasks, such as catching 20 Ice-type Pokémon during the event (Holiday 2024).
During the Holiday Part 2 event, which runs from December 23, 2024, to January 6, 2025, players can find Cryogonal in its Dynamax form alongside other Pokémon such as Krabby, Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble.
Previously, players had the opportunity to hatch Cryogonal from 7 km Eggs, and it was also available as a Tier 3 Raid boss. This makes the current event a timely chance for players to bolster their Pokémon collection.

The Possibility of Shiny Cryogonal
Cryogonal can indeed be obtained in its Shiny form in Pokémon Go. This dazzling variation was introduced during the Catch Mastery: Ice event in December 2023.
Notably, distinguishing between the regular and Shiny versions of Cryogonal can be subtle. The primary visual cue lies in the eye color and the chain of ice surrounding its body, which changes from blue to yellow in the Shiny version. Players should keep in mind that while there’s no guaranteed method to catch a Shiny Pokémon, frequent participation in Raids can enhance the odds of discovering one.
