The highly anticipated Ghost of Tsushima will soon be available on PC when the Director’s Cut launches on Steam on May 16, 2024. However, those without a PSN account may be surprised to find that they are unable to access all of the game’s features.
The PC launch of Ghost of Tsushima has been highly anticipated, and PC players will now have the opportunity to experience the samurai epic in its full glory for the first time since its original release on PS4. Additionally, the Director’s Cut version includes exclusive PC features that enhance the game’s visuals and frame rate.
The upcoming port will be the first PlayStation title on PC to feature a new overlay, which will include a Friends list, Trophies, settings, and profile. Sucker Punch Productions has confirmed that players are not obligated to have a PlayStation Network account in order to play the game’s single-player mode, although this may not be the case for the multiplayer mode.
In a recent post on X (Twitter), Sucker Punch Productions announced that players must have an active PSN account in order to access the Ghost of Tsushima: Legends mode. They clarified that while a PSN account is necessary for the online multiplayer mode and PlayStation overlay, it is not required to play the singleplayer game.
It should be noted that Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is entirely distinct from the single-player campaign and offers a unique experience. Rather than centering on the Mongol invasion depicted in the main game, Legends allows up to four players to join forces and complete missions inspired by Japanese folklore.
Despite the controversy surrounding the recent Helldivers 2 PSN requirements backlash, players who want to play with their friends on both PC and PS5 will still need to create a PSN account. Although Sony has retracted their initial decision to require a PSN account for Helldivers 2 PC players, it is unclear if the same will apply to Ghost of Tsushima.
