During the introduction of their new album’s title track, “Klaxon,”(G)I-DLE’s Shuhua caused a stir with her confident statement. She boldly proclaimed, “Apologies to other idols, but (G)I-DLE’s music will be the only thing people listen to this summer.”However, the other members brushed it off as a joke and waved their hands to play down the remark.

Despite being filled with summer vibes and highly anticipated to be a major hit like their previous successes, (G)I-DLE’s new song “Klaxon”faced challenges upon release. Despite having a high number of playlists, the song only received 338,573 listens and did not enter the top 20 music charts in Korea within the first day. Furthermore, (G)I-DLE did not make it onto Spotify’s global artist chart on the day of their track’s launch, despite being comparable to other popular 4th-generation groups.
Shuhua’s statement, coupled with her underperformance, caused the audience to view her remarks as even more arrogant, resulting in criticism.

Despite being praised for her stunning looks and captivating stage presence, Shuhua has faced criticism for her lack of vocal prowess. Korean netizens have often described her as “tone-deaf”and “out of breath”when singing. Even though she debuted in 2018, her singing abilities continue to be a point of scrutiny.
Despite facing criticism, some individuals came to Shuhua’s defense, acknowledging the constant hurtful comments she receives. It was also observed that netizens often find amusement in male idols’ joking behavior, yet react negatively when a female idol makes similar remarks.
