Following her performance at (G)I-DLE’s concert, Soyeon’s exclusive contract with Cube Entertainment sparked discussion. In a recent update, Cube has officially announced the completion of Soyeon’s contract and their ongoing negotiations for its renewal with the idol.
On August 7, OSEN, a Korean news outlet, released an update from Cube regarding Soyeon’s exclusive contract. According to the statement, the agency first acknowledged Soyeon’s standout performance at (G)I-DLE’s “iDOL”concert in Seoul.
Cube addressed the issue by admitting that the company has never released an official statement regarding the matter, specifically mentioning Soyeon’s controversial rap lyrics that sparked speculation about her contract status. One of the lyrics in question mentioned her contract potentially expiring in November.
During her performance, the rapper announced that Soyeon’s contract with the agency will end in November. However, Cube has stated that they are currently in talks for a contract renewal with the rapper.
Please refer to the complete statement below:
“Hello. This is Cube Entertainment.
Numerous articles regarding Soyeon’s performance for the solo track “Is this bad b****** number?”are incorrect and we have never released an official statement on the matter.
As a result, we would like to apologize for the inconvenience we caused to our artist Soyeon, and to the fans who have shown love and concern for the members.
We are aware of the performance and lyrics for “Is this bad b****** number?”ahead of time. Additionally, the time mentioned (in the performance) is the time when Soyeon’s contract ends, and we are discussing the contract renewal thoroughly.
We want to express our sincerest gratitude to all the fans who have always shown interest and support for (G)I-DLE.”
Neverlands responded to Cube’s statement on the social media platform X (Twitter).
Cube either lied multiple times over the past few days or they’re so incompetent that it took them FOUR days to release an official statement saying that others were speaking on their behalf. This is quite concerning, not matter how you look at it. https://t.co/cdsjWDpyub

firstly they ignore promoting the girls activities, secondly they dare making an statement almost simultaneous to the concert, harming the girls (especially soyeon) in the process, and now we’re getting a cheap apology after soyeon had to speak up and clear her name…bye cube https://t.co/CWMR7YyyuG

Then why did you stated the lyrics weren’t true and blamed on Soyeon? Looks like this company has no logistics, internal communication and coordination…Or worse they were lying in the first place https://t.co/WolKxudIry pic.twitter.com/uIl5Wo1eU2

Soyeon took to her Instagram Stories on August 6 to discuss the matter. The leader emphasized that her top priority will always be the satisfaction of both her fans and her team.
Despite facing negative reactions for some of her projects, Soyeon emphasized that she has always been truthful and transparent with Cube and has never caused harm. She also revealed that the agency was fully aware of and present during several rehearsals.
“I performed this in front of the company numerous times and we made this stage possible. In the past ten years, we have been through so much, and I don’t have any hard feelings towards the company as stated in the media.”
